Workshop Announcement: Fall Lineup
Bust out the scarves, rock that flannel, and sip something pumpkin-spiced... then come chase fall colors and epic views with me on a photo adventure you won’t forget!
Fall is always a whirlwind for my family here in Maine. It’s the busiest time of year for my work - peak color, perfect light, and a packed calendar of photo workshops. Amid the early mornings, late nights, and non-stop planning, having a wife who not only tolerates but supports the chaos that comes with this lifestyle is nothing short of a gift. She’s the behind-the-scenes hero who keeps everything steady while I’m away.
But equally vital during this season of beautiful madness are our parents, who are willing to drop everything, travel across state lines, and show up just in time to take over bedtime duties or make school lunch. I mean, that’s next-level support! And it's not lost on me. This kind of help allows me to do what I love while still getting to come home, be a dad, and share in the rhythm of family life. What a privilege!
Anyway, here’s what I get to do this autumn… and I’d love for you to join me!
Best of Maine
September 16-21, 2025
With Co-instructor Benjamin Williamson
Even though fall begins the day after this workshop, I’m including it in this list because, well, let’s be honest, the second half of September always comes with hints of autumn.
I’m working with my buddy Ben Williamson on this one, who used to run this trip annually but took a hiatus for a few years, so I’m excited to be a part of its revival. Together, Ben and I have 23 years of experience photographing the coast of Maine! From Portland’s vibrant waterfront to Acadia’s wild, world-class shores, we know every hidden cove and every perfect angle. We’ll chase the light across scenic overlooks, frame the charm of lobster boats bobbing in harbors, and watch the sun rise on iconic lighthouses. The coast of Maine is a photographer’s paradise, and September is its golden hour. Let us show you!
Self-Expression through Nature Photography
October 4, 2025
With The Wendell Gilley Museum
This full-day workshop is all about creating meaningful images. In the field, we’ll embrace whatever weather and conditions come our way, learning how to pivot and adapt our photographic approach accordingly. In the classroom, weg’ll dive into what it takes to express ourselves through our photos, going beyond technique to find personal connection and creative intention.
Summits of Acadia
October 6-10, 2025
This workshop takes advantage of the early fall color found on Acadia’s summits… which means we will hike! The goal of this workshop is to get off the beaten path to photograph extraordinary locations seen by very few of the park’s visitors. Expect sweeping wide-angle views from mountaintops, as well as intimate small scenes tucked into the landscape during this beautiful time of year.
Canyons of the East
October 18-22, 2025
Join me in the stunning and incomparable Finger Lakes Region of New York! We’ll explore several parks, winding our way through gorges and along waterways as we photograph countless waterfalls and cascades. While we’ll visit iconic spots like the Taughannock Falls Overlook and Rainbow Falls in Watkins Glen State Park, this workshop will also emphasize small-scene photography, focusing on intimate compositions and often-overlooked subjects. You’ll learn best practices for capturing waterfalls and flowing water, along with post-processing techniques to enhance your images while staying true to the essence of the scene.
Icons of Acadia
November 6-10, 2025
Acadia is home to some of the most iconic scenes in New England - and arguably the entire National Park system. But to capture these classic shots in the best light and without the crowds, you need to visit outside of peak season. During this workshop, we’ll focus on timeless locations like Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Ocean Drive, Hunter’s Beach, Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond, Boulder Beach, and more, likely having them all to ourselves.
